Resident Volunteer Program

Would you like to experience living in a Christian community? If so, you might be interested in our Resident Volunteer Program. It’s a structured one to two week program for people of different ages and backgrounds to join in the life of our communities. Volunteers participate in the work of the community — in the kitchen, workshop, garden, community laundry, or elsewhere depending on the skills and interest of the individual. In addition, volunteers join the community for a daily communal meal, worship on Sunday, and other communal gatherings during the week. Volunteers also have time individually and in small group settings to read and discuss what it means to live out the values of God’s kingdom in community with others. A community host family will help you learn to navigate daily life and make sure you have everything you need during your stay with us.

By participating in our Resident Volunteer Program, you will have the chance to:

  • Learn about the history and witness of church communities over the centuries since the first church in Jerusalem

  • Share your gifts and talents with others and discover new ones

  • Grow in your faith and understanding of God’s will for your life

  • Make lasting friendships with people from different cultures and backgrounds

  • Enjoy the natural beauty in and around our communities

This program is offered at several larger Bruderhof locations. Dates and length of visits vary by location.
